A prayer every day and night;

Published May 8, 2012 by myntshop

Been sleeping at 1am and waking up at 5ish to 6am for the past two weeks; all in the name for mugging and finishing off the video assignment. Not to mention, preparing for the Malaysia trip (passport renewal), the half-marathon (Sundown) on 26th May, and some MYnt stuff too. Need to clear work deadlines as well, ‘cos of my leave taken for the exams next week. Two more weeks to freedom, but I am still in a jittery mode ‘cos two of the three modules are my weakest subjects by far. LET ME PASS PLEASE!

xx These motivational Tumblr posts are really timely for now.

Say a little prayer for you;

“Amidst the busy schedules, amidst the never ending tasks, take a step back and immerse in the love from the people around you. For when they are gone, it’ll be too late to say your thanks to them.”

Granny, grandpa, and mommy haven’t really been in the pink of health for the past few months. Saying a little prayer that they’ll be well again soon. Politics has been a silent killer as well, and it’s wearing me out bit by bit. Can never fathom how people can live with their conscience but I guess that’s the hard truth. Exams in two weeks’ time, assignment deadline in one week’s time, let me pass through May in one piece please. I hope the leave approval goes through I miss my grandparents in Malaysia :(

Back to the books;

Beautiful sight we immerse ourselves into,
the literal natural beauty.

Take a moment out of your busy life,
life’s bigger than it seems to be.

The above photograph was captured as I was looking out from my room’s window, one of the rare days that I still can witness such sights on a workday. It reminds me of Heaven ‘cos of the layer of seemingly cushioned clouds and the pinkish tone sky. Snap back to reality, and it’s time to hit the essay again. Tedious semester by far and it doesn’t help when gastric had to strike this week, hang in there peeps.

Thank you, year 2011!

Published December 31, 2011 by myntshop

Year 2011 has been very kind to me, albeit some obstacles did stand in my way. Really thankful for all the opportunities that I have been given, all the friends that I’ve kept to close, and my dearest family who has been generous with all the support that they have provided for me during the past year. Especially in terms of my career, I kinda took a big switch to what I’m doing now; I wouldn’t say that it’s all a bed of roses, but let’s just say that it’s best suitable for my studies now. That being said, I am so happy that I passed all my modules for this semester. Yay!

I’m also really glad that despite the different busy schedules we may have, we still managed to stay in touch via various means (thanks to technology?)! Cheers to friendships and better years ahead!

Also, thanks to dear customers of MYnt =) your tremendous support has been really generous, and I truly appreciate it!

Year 2012 is approaching, and I hope that the year ahead will be a greater one for everyone of you… More visuals will be up on the first day of a new year ;D for now, let’s take a few moments to rejoice on what’s taken place in year 2011, and reflect on the bads to become a better person in year 2012.

Cheerios! Happy New Year 2012!

Keeping those dreams alive…

Published October 12, 2011 by myntshop

“Remembering that you’re going to die is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.” – Steve Jobs.

Sometimes, I tend to have so so so so many dreams that I wanna make them all come true. Randoms like being a wedding planner, setting up a handmade trinkets pushcart at a mall, travelling worldwide to be immersed in the various cultures, or simply just sit back for a moment and admire the beauty of nature by the beach of Koh Samui. Hectic school and work life seemed to be throwing me off the balance act, trying to get back on track is tough and I’m going good onto the exams/assignments period.

I was chatting with peeps at work, and we kinda came to conclusion – we need to have passion in whatever we are doing, else with no passion and drive at work, everyday’s a miserable work day.

Just gotta bite it on till I get my degree, and see what it takes me to next. There is so much energy in me as I am typing away now, don’t ask me why ‘cos I myself am trying to figure out why too.

Oh well, good night world. x, out.

When life sucks, we just got to chin up!

Published September 16, 2011 by myntshop

I know the cliche statement of it being easier said than done; I’ve been pretty down with various ‘upsetting’ sources, be it friendship, school, or work. Everything just came like boomz! Anyways, mommy, sister and Stan gave really great advices… Instead of jumping head on into everything, try taking a step back and calm yourself down.

Perhaps things aren’t as bad as what they had seemed, perhaps it’s just a matter of perspective. That being said, I had a great retreat session on Wednesday :) the view from our seminar room facing the golf course was beautiful. The rain made it seemed a little more magical I think :) don’t you agree? The retreat session was a great bonding session with various department representatives, whom we would have minimal interaction unless you are in the outreach team. Being the ‘most junior’ position among all the directors and senior lecturers, I realised I certainly have so much more to learn from them.

Whenever I update this site on Fridays, it kinda scares me that time has past by us so so fast. It’s another week people! Inching into the month of October, it’s mommy’s birthday month. Right before that, it’s gonna be my birthday! A simple wish, nothing fancy… just dinners and gatherings with a few groups of people whom have planned. As we move on into various journeys of our lives, everyone has their own commitments and schedules. Hence, a simple dinner gathering is more than I could ask for =)

Four Seasons Durian Mooncakes

Last Sunday was one of the rare times that Stan came up to my place, haha. Prior to that, we met up at Jurong Point for some mooncake shopping. As expected, the Goodwood Park Hotel enjoyed the most crowd, but we skipped that after hearing rants (not raves) about their mooncakes this year. We walked round the various booths at least three times, before settling on Four Seasons durian mooncakes. I thought it was still pricey though. The Mao Shan Wang durian mini mooncakes cost S$88 per box of 8, but with any purchase of durian mooncakes, it will be discounted half price. So, we bought one box of four normal durian mooncakes and a box of mixed snowskin mooncakes. Our families enjoyed them very much, so I guess that’s all worth it!

All smiles!

Monday was the actual Mooncake/Lantern Festival; mommy, sister, and I had a great simple dinner spread at home. We had planned to head down for some mini candle/lantern fun ourselves, but dear Rain God didn’t help and it suddenly poured just when we reached our void deck. Meh, so in the end…we just played some candles outside our house. Lol, childhood memories of lighting up lots of candles forming heart shapes came floating back. Especially those times when secondary school peeps and I would meet up at the canal near Jurongville Secondary School , and we would just play till late and head for supper nearby. Those were the days…

Colourful Candles x2

Somewhat too lengthy a post yeah? School is starting today yo. Just wanna finish my assignment by tonight so that I can enjoy my weekend with loves! Dinners, a run on Sunday, and more dinners next week. Chin up people, it’s Friday! Ending this post with some photos and light-hearted words (from Tumblr, a lovely site) for a Friday. ;)

A brand new week!

Published August 23, 2011 by myntshop
    1. Much can’t be divulged, but I’m enjoying the ride so far. Everyday is a new learning journey for me; albeit amidst the increasing level of frustration from school work, I’m trying my best to keep my head above the ocean.
    2. Another happy thing is, I’ve gone back to reading (yes I had managed to squeeze time out for some reading yo!), and I’m hooked onto the Shopaholic series now! The storyline is so so so awesome for ladies who shop a lot, ‘cos I feel that you could totally relate to it.
    3. Back to the books – assignments galore with an upcoming Law test this Friday. Bummer much, but just gotta hang in there!
    4. So proud of myself (though I skipped running today) to start on sets – like crunches, arm band etc. =)
    5. Songs at the moment: Give Me Everything by Pitbull/ Whole Again by Atomic Kittens/ Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5.

Sucha random post, this sums up thoughts for this week so far. Ciao!

August 2011: Post One

Published August 1, 2011 by myntshop

As cliche as this may sound – time flies. August 2011 is here, and I am embarking on a new journey soon. Am I worried? Of course I am – the cloud of uncertainty is looming over my head every now and then, despite mommykin’s repetitive nagging that I should just calm down and see what the big guy above has in plans for me.

School
School started about a week ago, so far so good I guess. All my modules for this semester are communications-related, so maybe that is why I didn’t feel the same boredom I got from Social Sciences modules. BUT I will not be able to escape it for the next semester, so we’ll see.

Home
Over the weekend, I surprised my mom totally as I managed to clear out all the junk from my study room – bookshelves, table, and my ’treasure chest’. It took us the whole of Saturday, and we are still very impressed at the cleanliness and neatness of the room now (minus my sister’s area ‘cos she had to work over the weekend). Now mynt-shop has a nice corner for storage and packing! Heh, and my books too – all tucked neatly on an Ikea shelf above my table <3

Sport
I had a fun session of basketball with the GV peeps last Sunday and I really perspired (not to mention shagged out) like mad. Lack of exercise? Maybe. Anyway, nu-ers and I have signed up for the Yellow Prison Run 2011 and Singapore Marathon 2011 by Standard Chartered too! 10km and 21km. /gulps.

Visuals/Photography
Recently, I have joined the Instagram craze! Neglected my camera, and I took most of my daily photos with this awesome app! ;D If you haven’t downloaded it, hurry hurry go get it. Here are some 40 photos from the past week, yes I know that’s a lot. /gulps.

Thoughts
/signing off with a thought to ponder yet again, or rather a link to share with all of you that I read off a friend’s tweet – http://www.matchmove.com/news/article/a-fathers-message-from-beyond-the-grave. The link leads to an article/letter from a father who was suffering from terminal cancer , to his children. The lessons/advices he gave to his two children were simple, yet many of us neglect them nowadays. Have a read, I thought it was a really meaningful and insightful piece. It kinda made me think twice about a lot of stuffs too.

And so, school is starting tomorrow…

Published July 26, 2011 by myntshop

As much as I do kinda miss school, I don’t like the ‘going to school after work’ feeling. Not only it’s tiring, but also damn draining ‘cos I have to wake up much earlier and report to work earlier as well. The routine is gonna affect my personal time management as well, hope it all works well with five modules this semester /prays very hard.

Anyways, rants and what’s not, this issue is nothing compared to what the people of Norway are facing now. The devastating disaster to a peaceful country, sighs… Hope they will emerge stronger as a nation!

Off to pack parcels, and it’s bedtime!
x, out.

p.s. I wish for the best health for my loved ones, her condition is worrying me every single day. Please.. let her get well soon.

Great ending to June 2011!

Published June 27, 2011 by myntshop

Just received my results, dang the fact that SASS receives the results the latest at 5pm, whilst the rest got theirs at 1pm. Bummer* I have been really worried for my results ever since my papers ended, especially so for the SSC207. My dear tutor gave me 50 marks for the assignments and the paper wasn’t really manageable hence the additional stress. BUT, I managed to pass this module! Though with a C, BUT I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY! In fact, I am super thankful that I didn’t do too bad for the rest of the modules – As and Bs. I did my best, and I am so so so relieved now.

GPA dropped a fair bit by 0.24, gonna work harder next semester (I know I said that the last time, read here if you wanna know). A 4-pointer please? Hopefully, things will be more manageable henceforth :)

Thanks to the peeps for calling up to show their concern over the results, the dad who kept bugging my sister for the whole afternoon (she became kan jiong too), and my mommy who went to the temple to pray. Of course, Stan who sent his congratulatory text as well! :) Elated*

This marks a great ending thus far to June 2011, and a beach scenery to look forward to in less than 48 hours’ time.
