ASOS – my happiness in a box;

Published May 9, 2012 by myntshop

My phone displayed notifications of missed calls and messages from my sister during my lunch-time yesterday, it turned out that she had wanted to let me know that my happy box had arrived! Heh, kudos to ASOS for its efficiency in dispatching out my ASOS parcel which took less than three weeks to reach me.

xx

Awesome packaging; due to the size of the clutch, ASOS actually packed it in a brown parcel.

Review on ASOS Tortoise Shell Frame Clutch
(Link to item here)

Item was received in great condition, and even mommy said it looks very luxe. Yay! I was actually contemplating to purchase this way earlier (like in Feb/March), but the price put me off. Also, I couldn’t really decide on the colour as well  - black or cream. So, when the discount code promotion came along (additional 10% off), the price tag looked so much more attractive. I decided on black in the end, ‘cos clumsy me would most probably stain the cream piece in no time. Also, judging by my wardrobe colours, black seemed easier to match as well.

Speaking of which, I thought pairing it with a cobalt blue blazer will be nice too.
And I WANT a pastel-coloured blazer; mint or yellow? But first, I think a cobalt blue blazer tops the list.

A week in a blink;

Published May 4, 2012 by myntshop

Another week has gone by, and it’s scarier knowing that another seven days are taken off my countdown chart to the first paper for this term. Three papers to take, and one ECA to complete; I just can’t wait for June to arrive! Not to mention how stupid the topic is for the ECA – a three to five minute video on end-of-life care in Singapore. And the lecturer had actually suggested us to interview her mom, who’s struck with a terminal illness. Gees, seriously?!

SATURDAY
That aside, I am glad that I managed to squeeze in some leisure time amidst the crazy weekend of mugging, doing up the outline for the ECA, and planning the study schedule. My aunt from Malaysia is in town to visit us and will be heading back to KL tomorrow, so Mommy and I brought her out on Saturday to have dinner together :) simple food-fare at Jurong Point’s Kopitiam.

SUNDAY
I headed out to capture some shots for my assignment. First stop was Bras Basah, and we jumped onto the opportunity to tour around National Museum of Singapore since full-time students and regulars get to enjoy free entry/S$5 (special rate) for admission fees.

BOOMZ clouds taken outside the museum;

A couple of exhibitions and galleries were opened when we visited, and I found the photography gallery particularly interesting. Perhaps ‘cos it showcased the history of Singapore from various perspectives of the key people, such as Sir Stamford Raffles and the performers from Great World Amusement Park. A pity I left my SD card at home :( so, I could only make do with my iPhone to snap some photos from the museum tour. That, I shall leave it to next entry.

Another place that we went to, Tiong Bahru Market; this place serves really delish hawker fare. Ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chwee Kueh, Beef Soup, Oyster Omelette, and Sugar Cane drink to top it off. My fave dish has got to be the Chwee Kueh  from Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Chwee Kueh (#02-05)!

Tiong Bahru Food Market & Hawker Centre
(Check out ladyironchef’s post for more food recommendations!)
Address: 30 Seng Poh road
All these for less than S$15, daebak!

MONDAY
After a somewhat long Monday, the whole family brought my aunt out for dinner with some hawker foodfare lovin’. Our initial stop was Redhill Market & Food Centre, but too bad the tzi char store wasn’t opened for business so we decided on heading to Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre instead.

We ordered BBQ Sambal Stingray, Sotong, Kang Kang from BBQ Seafood, and Winter Melon with Spare Ribs soup from Yi Ping Tung. The latter serves really good soup, and the unique way of cooking it charcoal-style allows all the ingredients to be well-broiled. Best of all, the price is reasonable at S$4 per claypot. Yay!

After the dinner, we brought her to Marina Bay Sands to take in the night-view of Singapore.

Chanced upon the window display of Louis Vuitton, and snapped a photo of it – amazed by the vibrant colours. But I thought the colours used for window display were a big contrast to the pastel colours used in their SS12 campaign.

LABOUR DAY
The journey went like this – Jurong Point, Jurong East, JCube, Redhill, IKEA, Changi, and Old Airport Road Food Centre. And I finally got to try the Lao Ban Soya Beancurd!! Bought a few back for mommy and sister, and they love it too. Mommy said that there’s a tinge of black sugar taste in it. The queue wasn’t that bad when I went at 8+pm, less than 30 minutes I’d say. At S$1.50 per bowl, it’s much pricier than the usual soya beancurd in the market but I think it’s worth the price. HAHA!

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd (Old Airport Road)
Address: 51 Old Airport Road, #01-127 Old Airport Road Food Centre

Wednesday
Alas! Mid-week was finally here, and it’s another day with bad headache etc. Went to the temple to pray that evening, and had a good talk with my god-uncle. Let’s just see how things go! :)

Simple foodfare // home-cooked food is love! Mommy never fails to let us come home in comfort and bask in love from her. LOL, so much for cheesy lines, but I really learnt not to take such details for granted after working. It’s not like I get to eat home-cooked food everyday :)

Review on “The Lucky One” movie

The Lucky One Poster

The Lucky One screencap

Details:
Movie title: “The Lucky One“
1hr 41min – Romance, Drama
Director: Scott Hicks
Writers: Will Fetters (screenplay), Nicholas Sparks (novel)
Stars: Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner

Synopsis (credits here):
A Marine travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.

Perhaps I held too high hopes for this movie, so I was tad disappointed after watching it. Other than the scenes with the hot bod of Zac Efron, the rest of the story plot lacklustre and predictable. I felt the emotions shown during the scene where Taylor reminisced about her brother was more real than the chemistry between her and Zac. Nonetheless, it’s a nice movie to catch if you don’t want to fight with the crowd this weekend over tickets to the Avengers movie. :)

Rating:

This is like, one of my longest posts ever; blogged this over the week and finally managed to publish it today. Gotta find time this weekend to do a good run and finish the rest of my mugging and video assignment \m/ FIGHTING!

LB Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine/ Bralets/ Previews for MYnt;

Published April 26, 2012 by myntshop

Happy girl = parcel received in good condition without any delay! Came home to my parcel from Love, Bonito and it turned out to be the Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine :)

xx

Review time!

LB Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine

I carted out this piece in size M, it fits me nicely and not too snug. The material feels really comfy, but I think it may fur after some time. The drapes can be pulled up or down, depending on your preference. Great for office wear or weekend dates! Not too sure if I am letting it go, still contemplating on it now. Meh.

xx

Just came back from a date night out with girlfriends in town, and we did some (window) shopping at H&M, Pazzion, and Charles & Keith! I bought this white lace blouse from H&M, for just S$17.90. The material is light, and definitely another versatile piece for work or weekends. Size 38 fits me loosely :) yay!

H&M Lace Blouse
Ref: UK 10, 168cm
xx

We also spotted bralets at H&M, but we thought the ones from Topshop are seriously much better in terms of design, boning structure, and the cutting as well. Nonetheless, I doubt I’m gonna buy any ‘cos 1) it looks better with high-waisted bottoms and I can’t pull off the look of high-waist cut, 2) the figure, and 3) can’t foresee myself wearing it. Having said that, the prints of these Topshop bralets are gorgeous, especially the white-based bralet! Did a Google search, and these bralets from Topshop popped up. NICE

xx

MYnt is gonna launch a new collection tonight (8.30pm)! Like finally after one whole month :) mailers will be sent out in awhile! Sis is helping to create a new website under the name MYnt Shoppe, but transferring our photolog over is taking us some time :( so we really wanna thank you for your kind patience and understanding! Here’re some polyvore compilations that I have done - inspirations behind this collection, and mix’n'match with the new MYnt items!

Bulk of the items are inspired from the fashion donned by personalities at the recent Coachella 2012 (blogged about it here), hence we are gonna name this Collection Six – Coachella Fever!

Retail therapy from SMoochSG, MGG, and offline shopping;

Published April 17, 2012 by myntshop

April has been a dry month so far, no thanks to fabulous launches and offline shopping. To put it nicely, it’s been an over-dosage of retail therapy lately. LOL! Excuses aside, I’ve been doing some window shopping with Stan at MBS and it’s tugging my heart-strings for the YSL clutch. Now that it’s OOS in Singapore, I can rest my mind (and wallet) on it temporarily.

xx

REVIEW TIME!

SMooch Meet Me at 9 Dress in PurpleLilac
Just received this from my postbox :) speedy delivery it is! I got it in Size M, and it fits loosely on me. Not that I mind a single bit ‘cos I can wear it comfortably to work. The material is fabulous too, and the length is just right for me. Not my usual colour palette, but I guess this SMooch piece is a first then. :) Paired it with MYnt Shoppe Snowflake necklace. A keeper, yay!

xx

Megagamie (MGG) Gipsy Boho Blouse in Purple
Tried this piece at KissJane previously, and I commented for it on the same night. Heh, another new colour to my wardrobe (purple)! I can foresee this piece to be my favourite wear for weekend, or Friday dress down day at work. The material is smooth, though it’s a little too big on me. I guess it can be worn tucked in to appear less baggy then. A keeper too, yay!

xx

SMooch Tipped Collared Shirt in Cobalt Blue
A fab piece that came with an affordable price tag of S$24 mailed. It really resembles the Topshop piece, and I love the shade of this cobalt blue too! It’s not too bright, yet it stands out among navy based colours. The asymmetrical hem makes it even more unique than the normal collared blouse, and it could worn with pants for work days too. Hope to hunt down other colours now! :)

xx

Offline loot;
Loving my new silk top from Pull & Bear :D it’s high-collared and super comfortable to wear in. The price tag was a little heartpain for me at S$50. LOL, but I think it will remain a staple in the wardrobe (provided I don’t put on weight that is)!

xx

Ref: UK10, 168cm

Don’t hit me when I say that I’m getting a tad upset about the fats on my face -___- even Stan said I look like my baby fats are back to haunt me. Someone help to smack him please, but my sis and mom are saying that I should put on weight. Gotta keep the health in check first I say, especially since my gastric hasn’t been behaving lately. Back to essays again…

Beautiful Saturday;

Published April 2, 2012 by myntshop

Headed out to Marina Bay Sands with mommy on Saturday, ‘cos she’s been wanting to check out the Louis Vuitton store Island Maison. Bratty sister couldn’t join us as she had to attend her friend’s 21st Birthday Party at Chevrons.

WIWT

Decked out in Love, Bonito Covet Walsh Top in Black, and Peplum Floral Skirt (this versatile piece was one of the few that I’ve scored from their Helipad sales!).
Accessorized with DKNY bag, RUBI sandals, MYnt-Shop snowflake necklace, and Omega Analog Watch.

xx

Sis’ decked out in Love, Bonito too; Poised Blazer in Mauve, and Pink Reversible Dress (from their first LB collection).
Accessorized with hand-me-down necklace from Mommy, and Victoria’s Secret Bag.

xx

Thanks to the Circle Line, it’s so much convenient now to commute to Marina Bay Sands via train! Wanted to locate Toastbox for some coffee and tea break, but the interactive map didn’t help so we gave up -___- Ended up window shopping, and mommy said no to the YSL clutch. She asked me to invest in a bag first, ‘cos it’s more practical. Mothers have their ways eh? Finally arrived at the LV store, and mommy eyed a couple of bags already. If only the price difference isn’t so big between Singapore retail price and European countries’ pricing, the heart pain wouldn’t be that much. LOL! In any case, it’s good time spent together with mommy :) her leg’s still hurting, but I’m glad she agreed to head out for awhile, getting some fresh air and (window) retail therapy helped too.

xx

Check out her happy face! :3

xx

Anyways, the skyline was so beautiful over the weekend. Managed to capture a few shots with just my iPhone, and the #nofilter photos are really mesmerizing. It’s always these few spots where you could proudly say that Singapore is a beautiful country – from the Helix Bridge, Esplanade, Fullerton Hotel, and the Promenade.

My Saturdate;

Published March 8, 2012 by myntshop

In a slow turn of time, it’s finally Thursday. No doubt the shitty day, I’m sure it’s gonna be a great night ‘cos sisters and I are meeting up for dinner! What’s more, we are gonna celebrate da-jie’s (belated) birthday :) Most probably gonna dine at any good restaurant that we can find at Millenia Walk. Yay! Miss these girls loads, our last meet-up was for Christmas and I remember that was the first time we’d met Baby Clarisse. XOXO

Gonna be a short pictorial post, and review on Love, Bonito (LB) Dakota Blouse in Navy and Grey Clutch from Ascentee.

xx

Darling babysis dropped by my office last Thursday to pass me these lovely chiffon cakes, ‘cos she said she’s gonna miss when she flies to Malaysia with Mommy to visit Grandma. Sweet daooooo :) was really happy to see her, and not to mention…savouring these cakes during my lesson later that night. Tried to ask her for the address of this bakery, but all she could remember is, this is near her workplace at Robinsons Road. Goldfish memory = her. -___-

Cranberry, Chocolate, Marble, and Vanilla

xx

Quite sad to hear of the old folks being admitted into hospitals and/or falling ill out of the sudden, after hearing the news of my grandparents, Stan’s Grandma was also hospitalised for sudden vomitting and breathing difficulty. So glad that she’s out of the hospital now. Anyhoots, we had dinner at DTF and desserts at Secret Recipe! One can never get sick of XLBs, still prefer theirs over Crystal Jade’s anytime. ;) And also, the Raspberry Marble Cheesecake that I’d ordered was simply divine. A tad too pity that the price is almost the same as Malaysia’s outlets, except with the change of currency sign only. Bummer!

NOTD/ Nail Diary

My sis got into this hype over nail polishes, and bought a few bottles of loud (bright) hues for herself from The Face Shop. I did a little more work for my nails over the weekend, applied this purplish glitter shade from TFS and added another coat of glitter shade from LA Colour. Happy!

OTD/ Outfit Diary; Love, Bonito (LB) Dakota Blouse in Navy and Grey Clutch from Ascentee

*myntshop Snowflake necklace as shown in photo

Managed to snag this piece via restocks collection! Was contemplating on white or navy, but slow fingers me was left with the Navy option in the end. Nothing to grumble about this versatile piece as it works great as a layering top for any outfit. I’d paired it up with a long singlet from Cotton On, and a black mini skirt from MNG. The clutch is my favourite till date, it comes with a chain sling but I prefer to use it this way. Any recommendations on where to get similar clutches like this? Thanks a million! :)

For ref, UK10/ 168cm.

Stay tuned for MYnt’s launch tonight: http://mynt-shop.livejournal.com/ :)

Review on The Tinsel Rack (TTR) Dancing Under Moonlight Dress in Amara Green

Published March 1, 2012 by myntshop

- TTR Dancing Under Moonlight Dress in Amara Green -

Set my eyes on this piece after viewing the preview photos on The Tinsel Rack Facebook page! I took Size M, and it fits me to a T in terms of length and PTP <3 The colour is refreshing, and the material is totally worth my money spent. Love the unique cut-out near the collar of the dress, and the flare bottom. Thumbs up to another happy shopper of TTR! Yay! :)

For reference, I am a UK10/168cm tall.

Ushering in the Year of Dragon;

Published February 5, 2012 by myntshop

In a twinkling of the eye and it’s already Day 14 of Lunar New Year! So many gatherings with friends (more than with relatives), and lou hei, dinners, and definitely, outfits! Here are some online apparels that I am decked out in the days leading up to Lunar New Year 2012, and during the new year period as well.

A week before CNY
HollyHoque Ruffles By My Sides Top in Coral/ MYnt Reflections Necklace

A super long top from their June 2011 collection, this chiffon top comes with an inner spag top as the outer layer is sheer. Good for dress down work days and weekend casual dates I’d say! :)
 ——————

Eve of CNY Eve
Love, Bonito Covet Walsh Top in Black (Size M)/ MYnt Reflections Necklace

Another classic piece which needs no introduction – this Love, Bonito piece is a real beauty. The intricate crochet details makes the whole outfit more dainty. Albeit showing a bit of mid-rift, pairing with a long maxi skirt or mid-waist shorts should do the trick.
——————

CNY Day One
HerWalkinCloset Oriental Lace CheongSum Inspired Dress in Coral/ MYnt Earrings

This lovely dress was kindly sponsored by Eils from HerWalkinCloset a year ago (IKR?!), and I didn’t have a chance to wear so I thought of wearing it for the first day of Dragon Year! Bearing in mind the mouths of my relatives who never fail to comment on my past years’ dressings, so I thought this safe piece would just keep their mouth shut. Ironically, we didn’t manage to bump into them this year. Lol.
——————

CNY Day Two
Top from B&M store in Jurong Point/ The Tinsel Rack Floral Blossoms Paperbag Skirt in Violet Peonies/ MYnt Earrings

The coral top is from a B&M store in Jurong Point, and I got it at a steal of S$15 only! A tad sheer, but the scallop details help to cover the front portion. The paperbag skirt is a stunner which I had set my eyes upon this piece after Joyce uploaded on Facebook and Instagram! I took Size L, no thanks to my wide hipbone structure (bummer). Kudos to Joyce for throwing in a brown belt for every skirt, that’s what I call thoughtful service!
——————

That rounds up my OTD posts for now; back to essay. Feeling super shagged and lost with the writing. I seriously loathe these Social Sciences modules, roars.

When shades of blues are appreciated; Love Bonito Taia Kate Dress in Cobalt and Amelie-Anne Sienna Jersey Dress in Rich Blue

Published January 4, 2012 by myntshop

First day back to work for a new year, any thoughts/reflections you may ask? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t a good start but we’re all hoping for a smoother week ahead. Shit happened always, as shared by my colleague, the only issue now is to deal with it.

Dear bestie Gwen dropped me a Whatsapp message to check out my day, and gave me tons of encouraging statements. Since I know I’ll be here for a period of time, I should suck thumb and make the best out of it eh? Rather than wallowing in despair everyday, why not take each obstacle as a stepping stone so that the next journey would be made easier? Having said so much, I think it’s really so much easier said than done T.T

Nonetheless, I’m thankful for the phone calls from mommykins and the messages from Stan, earlier during work today. They pushed me through end of work day, and comforted me a little. Stan’s mom gave us this Indon cake, which I really can’t wait to try it out! =) Thank yousss*

By the way, here’s the link to MYnt’s latest collection –  http://mynt-shop.livejournal.com/102295.html! <3

That aside, these are a couple of backdated loots that I had received. Pending reviews of the much-raved Love, Bonito Covet Walsh Top in Black, and others as well. For a head-start, here’s one from Amelie-Anne and Love, Bonito !

———————————

Sienna Jersey Dress in Rich Blue
The Label Love, manufactured by Amelie-Anne

Link – http://amelie-anne.livejournal.com/17207.html#cutid1

A simple-cut dress that could transcend from a day to night outfit, if you would to ask me ;) I paired it up with SMooch Goldie Obi Belt and MYnt-Shop Waterfall Necklace. It comes with a matching sash as well, but I prefer to jazz it up with a contrasting belt! ;) Material wise, it’s really comfortable and it comes with lining as well, a plus point in my opinion. At S$28 shipped, I think it’s so worth it!

———————————

Of course, the highly raved Love, Bonito Taia Kate Dress in Cobalt ;)

I bought it in Size M for this piece, and paired it up with MYnt-Shop Waterfall Necklace for this review. Loving the colour very much and the length is just right, but a pity that it felt kinda snug on my wide (flat) chest, so I let it go. That being said… The material is, as raved by many others, very well-worth the money spent and I think it succeeds many boutique pieces. Now, this piece belongs to a dear owner – Solemate ;)

Back to reality and work tomorrow, FIGHTING yo!

Good night – xoxo, Noi.
