ASOS – my happiness in a box;

Published May 9, 2012 by myntshop

My phone displayed notifications of missed calls and messages from my sister during my lunch-time yesterday, it turned out that she had wanted to let me know that my happy box had arrived! Heh, kudos to ASOS for its efficiency in dispatching out my ASOS parcel which took less than three weeks to reach me.

xx

Awesome packaging; due to the size of the clutch, ASOS actually packed it in a brown parcel.

Review on ASOS Tortoise Shell Frame Clutch
(Link to item here)

Item was received in great condition, and even mommy said it looks very luxe. Yay! I was actually contemplating to purchase this way earlier (like in Feb/March), but the price put me off. Also, I couldn’t really decide on the colour as well  - black or cream. So, when the discount code promotion came along (additional 10% off), the price tag looked so much more attractive. I decided on black in the end, ‘cos clumsy me would most probably stain the cream piece in no time. Also, judging by my wardrobe colours, black seemed easier to match as well.

Speaking of which, I thought pairing it with a cobalt blue blazer will be nice too.
And I WANT a pastel-coloured blazer; mint or yellow? But first, I think a cobalt blue blazer tops the list.

A week in a blink;

Published May 4, 2012 by myntshop

Another week has gone by, and it’s scarier knowing that another seven days are taken off my countdown chart to the first paper for this term. Three papers to take, and one ECA to complete; I just can’t wait for June to arrive! Not to mention how stupid the topic is for the ECA – a three to five minute video on end-of-life care in Singapore. And the lecturer had actually suggested us to interview her mom, who’s struck with a terminal illness. Gees, seriously?!

SATURDAY
That aside, I am glad that I managed to squeeze in some leisure time amidst the crazy weekend of mugging, doing up the outline for the ECA, and planning the study schedule. My aunt from Malaysia is in town to visit us and will be heading back to KL tomorrow, so Mommy and I brought her out on Saturday to have dinner together :) simple food-fare at Jurong Point’s Kopitiam.

SUNDAY
I headed out to capture some shots for my assignment. First stop was Bras Basah, and we jumped onto the opportunity to tour around National Museum of Singapore since full-time students and regulars get to enjoy free entry/S$5 (special rate) for admission fees.

BOOMZ clouds taken outside the museum;

A couple of exhibitions and galleries were opened when we visited, and I found the photography gallery particularly interesting. Perhaps ‘cos it showcased the history of Singapore from various perspectives of the key people, such as Sir Stamford Raffles and the performers from Great World Amusement Park. A pity I left my SD card at home :( so, I could only make do with my iPhone to snap some photos from the museum tour. That, I shall leave it to next entry.

Another place that we went to, Tiong Bahru Market; this place serves really delish hawker fare. Ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chwee Kueh, Beef Soup, Oyster Omelette, and Sugar Cane drink to top it off. My fave dish has got to be the Chwee Kueh  from Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Chwee Kueh (#02-05)!

(Check out ladyironchef’s post for more food recommendations!)
Address: 30 Seng Poh road
All these for less than S$15, daebak!

MONDAY
After a somewhat long Monday, the whole family brought my aunt out for dinner with some hawker foodfare lovin’. Our initial stop was Redhill Market & Food Centre, but too bad the tzi char store wasn’t opened for business so we decided on heading to Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre instead.

We ordered BBQ Sambal Stingray, Sotong, Kang Kang from BBQ Seafood, and Winter Melon with Spare Ribs soup from Yi Ping Tung. The latter serves really good soup, and the unique way of cooking it charcoal-style allows all the ingredients to be well-broiled. Best of all, the price is reasonable at S$4 per claypot. Yay!

After the dinner, we brought her to Marina Bay Sands to take in the night-view of Singapore.

Chanced upon the window display of Louis Vuitton, and snapped a photo of it – amazed by the vibrant colours. But I thought the colours used for window display were a big contrast to the pastel colours used in their SS12 campaign.

LABOUR DAY
The journey went like this – Jurong Point, Jurong East, JCube, Redhill, IKEA, Changi, and Old Airport Road Food Centre. And I finally got to try the Lao Ban Soya Beancurd!! Bought a few back for mommy and sister, and they love it too. Mommy said that there’s a tinge of black sugar taste in it. The queue wasn’t that bad when I went at 8+pm, less than 30 minutes I’d say. At S$1.50 per bowl, it’s much pricier than the usual soya beancurd in the market but I think it’s worth the price. HAHA!

Address: 51 Old Airport Road, #01-127 Old Airport Road Food Centre

Wednesday
Alas! Mid-week was finally here, and it’s another day with bad headache etc. Went to the temple to pray that evening, and had a good talk with my god-uncle. Let’s just see how things go! :)

Simple foodfare // home-cooked food is love! Mommy never fails to let us come home in comfort and bask in love from her. LOL, so much for cheesy lines, but I really learnt not to take such details for granted after working. It’s not like I get to eat home-cooked food everyday :)

Review on “The Lucky One” movie

The Lucky One Poster

The Lucky One screencap

Details:
Movie title: “The Lucky One“
1hr 41min – Romance, Drama
Director: Scott Hicks
Writers: Will Fetters (screenplay), Nicholas Sparks (novel)
Stars: Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner

Synopsis (credits here):
A Marine travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.

Perhaps I held too high hopes for this movie, so I was tad disappointed after watching it. Other than the scenes with the hot bod of Zac Efron, the rest of the story plot lacklustre and predictable. I felt the emotions shown during the scene where Taylor reminisced about her brother was more real than the chemistry between her and Zac. Nonetheless, it’s a nice movie to catch if you don’t want to fight with the crowd this weekend over tickets to the Avengers movie. :)

Rating:

.5 out of 5 popcorns

QOTD// daily mantra; thanks for the love received.

This is like, one of my longest posts ever; blogged this over the week and finally managed to publish it today. Gotta find time this weekend to do a good run and finish the rest of my mugging and video assignment \m/ FIGHTING!

LB Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine/ Bralets/ Previews for MYnt;

Published April 26, 2012 by myntshop

Happy girl = parcel received in good condition without any delay! Came home to my parcel from Love, Bonito and it turned out to be the Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine :)

xx

Review time!

LB Kassel Knot Skirt in Wine

I carted out this piece in size M, it fits me nicely and not too snug. The material feels really comfy, but I think it may fur after some time. The drapes can be pulled up or down, depending on your preference. Great for office wear or weekend dates! Not too sure if I am letting it go, still contemplating on it now. Meh.

xx

Just came back from a date night out with girlfriends in town, and we did some (window) shopping at H&M, Pazzion, and Charles & Keith! I bought this white lace blouse from H&M, for just S$17.90. The material is light, and definitely another versatile piece for work or weekends. Size 38 fits me loosely :) yay!

H&M Lace Blouse
Ref: UK 10, 168cm
xx

We also spotted bralets at H&M, but we thought the ones from Topshop are seriously much better in terms of design, boning structure, and the cutting as well. Nonetheless, I doubt I’m gonna buy any ‘cos 1) it looks better with high-waisted bottoms and I can’t pull off the look of high-waist cut, 2) the figure, and 3) can’t foresee myself wearing it. Having said that, the prints of these Topshop bralets are gorgeous, especially the white-based bralet! Did a Google search, and these bralets from Topshop popped up. NICE

xx

MYnt is gonna launch a new collection tonight (8.30pm)! Like finally after one whole month :) mailers will be sent out in awhile! Here’re some polyvore compilations that I have done - inspirations behind this collection, and mix’n'match with the new MYnt items!

Bulk of the items are inspired from the fashion donned by personalities at the recent Coachella 2012 (blogged about it here), hence we are gonna name this Collection Six – Coachella Fever!

Fashion x Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

Published April 19, 2012 by myntshop

I’ve been following Free People on Instagram, and came to know of Coachella Festival that took place last weekend and will be continued again this weekend; weekend 1 – April 13th to 15th, and weekend 2 – April 20th to 22nd. I thought it’s a rather interesting event, something different from the usual major music and arts festival, so I felt like sharing it with readers here :) I’m no fashionista, but Coachella really got me hooked on their outfits! Here it goes ;)

Background of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
It’s an annual three-day music and arts festival held in Indio, California. The event features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop and electronic music as well as large sculptural art. The festival is renowned for its cutting edge lineup, showcasing many of the top and up-and-coming acts in music as well as reunions. Notable performers include Prince, Radiohead, Dr. Dre], Oasis, Daft Punk, Roger Waters, Madonna, The Cure, Kanye West, At the Drive-In, The Black Keys, Rage Against The Machine, Gorillaz, Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, The Strokes, The Chemical Brothers, Pavement, The White Stripes, Jay-Z, and the Beastie Boys.
(Credit: Wikipedia)

What caught my eye wasn’t the music acts or the arts displays, but the people who attended and their outfits! Chanced upoon this article on dailymail.co.uk that the Vampire Diaries couple Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev attended the festival too.

Gorgeous eye-candies :)

MYnt Shoppe will be launching a similar necklace to the one that Nina is seen wearing here, stay tuned to previews on our Facebook page! :)

Free People has also done a photo compilation of outfits donned on their staff and Coachella-goers, you can check out their blog here. And, I did a mini ‘Polyvore’ of an outfit for Coachella :) MYnt Shoppe is gonna launch similar necklaces too! So glad that my assignments are ending soon, so that sister and I can kickstart our re-launch proper.

xx

For more information on Coachella, you can check out their website (http://www.coachella.com), or simply Google for images and news stories by the major news wires. It’s interesting, and I’m pretty sure that you’ll get hooked Google-ing for fashion compilation of the festival :)

Two more days to the weekend and it’ll be part two of Coachella. To all Coachella-goers, have fun! :B

Retail therapy from SMoochSG, MGG, and offline shopping;

Published April 17, 2012 by myntshop

April has been a dry month so far, no thanks to fabulous launches and offline shopping. To put it nicely, it’s been an over-dosage of retail therapy lately. LOL! Excuses aside, I’ve been doing some window shopping with Stan at MBS and it’s tugging my heart-strings for the YSL clutch. Now that it’s OOS in Singapore, I can rest my mind (and wallet) on it temporarily.

xx

REVIEW TIME!

SMooch Meet Me at 9 Dress in PurpleLilac
Just received this from my postbox :) speedy delivery it is! I got it in Size M, and it fits loosely on me. Not that I mind a single bit ‘cos I can wear it comfortably to work. The material is fabulous too, and the length is just right for me. Not my usual colour palette, but I guess this SMooch piece is a first then. :) Paired it with MYnt Shoppe Snowflake necklace. A keeper, yay!

xx

Megagamie (MGG) Gipsy Boho Blouse in Purple
Tried this piece at KissJane previously, and I commented for it on the same night. Heh, another new colour to my wardrobe (purple)! I can foresee this piece to be my favourite wear for weekend, or Friday dress down day at work. The material is smooth, though it’s a little too big on me. I guess it can be worn tucked in to appear less baggy then. A keeper too, yay!

xx

SMooch Tipped Collared Shirt in Cobalt Blue
A fab piece that came with an affordable price tag of S$24 mailed. It really resembles the Topshop piece, and I love the shade of this cobalt blue too! It’s not too bright, yet it stands out among navy based colours. The asymmetrical hem makes it even more unique than the normal collared blouse, and it could worn with pants for work days too. Hope to hunt down other colours now! :)

xx

Offline loot;
Loving my new silk top from Pull & Bear :D it’s high-collared and super comfortable to wear in. The price tag was a little heartpain for me at S$50. LOL, but I think it will remain a staple in the wardrobe (provided I don’t put on weight that is)!

xx

Ref: UK10, 168cm

Don’t hit me when I say that I’m getting a tad upset about the fats on my face -___- even Stan said I look like my baby fats are back to haunt me. Someone help to smack him please, but my sis and mom are saying that I should put on weight. Gotta keep the health in check first I say, especially since my gastric hasn’t been behaving lately. Back to essays again…

Precious time spent with family and shopping loots review;

Published April 4, 2012 by myntshop

Took the day off as my parents had suggested to go Tomb Sweeping today with my eldest uncle; it’s like a yearly tradition that we never fail to stand by. My late  Grandpa was buried, hence we had to travel to the cemetery at Lim Chu Kang area, and then made our way to Choa Chu Kang Crematorium to pay our respects to my late Grandma and my late second uncle. Throughout the journey, my dad kept harping to me on the different practices and traditions that we Chinese Taoists have to adhere to. He added that it’s a pity that not many of us in this generation still know about the traditions of Tomb Sweeping, such as the prayer items to purchase and the various things to note. Long story short, the whole process did involved a lot of things, but I think it’s still of utmost importance to cherish your loves ones while they are still around you. <3

Headed to Bugis with my parents in the afternoon, and we went to Kuan Yin Thong Hood Cho Temple first before heading to Albert Food Centre for some tea-break. Dad bought us green bean soup from this stall with a long long queue; the soup is nice, but my dad complained that the previous stall owners were better. And I can never forget to order my favourite Chwee Kueh whenever I spotted the stall in food markets!

xx

Did some shopping at Bugis Street, and I walked away with four tops at only S$10 each. Two of the tops were spotted on blogstores before, if I’d remembered correctly. LOL, my sis also got a cardigan at S$15 from Bugis Street last week, and I saw it selling online for S$26.90. Zzzz.

Sister joined us for dinner after she knocked off from work, and dad drove us to Redhill Market and Food Centre! Ordered my fave Fried Wing Rice, and parents had their usual Curry Rice from Hong Seng Curry Rice. It’s super yummy and really affordable – three side dishes with rice costs S$2.70. Compared to the Scissors Cut Curry Rice that you see in foodcourts which sells overpriced food, this gem at Redhill Market and Food Centre is one not to be missed.

xx

SHOPPING LOOTS REVIEW :)

Herwalkincloset Karen Millen Inspired Pleated Work Dress in POP-ART BLUE
Couldn’t resist getting this piece from herwalkincloset when I first set my eye on it, and since it’s a sales item so I thought why not? :D Thanks to dear Eilsbaby (owner of HWC) for advising on the colour of the dress that I should take ‘cos I was contemplating on the black or pop-art blue piece, I chose the latter in the end. I picked Size M, and it fits nicely on me. The shade of blue is not too loud, more towards cobalt blue in my opinion. Great for corporate functions, and meeting days!

Herwalkincloset Mod Block Top
My favourite colour – coral! The material is definitely of boutique standard, and I picked Size M for this as well. It comes with a back zip for ease of wearing, and it doesn’t feel snug on me at all. Paired it with Snowflake necklace from MYnt Shoppe :) Happy loots from HWC!

Megagamie Gipsy Boho Blouse in Purple
Tried on this newly launched Megagamie top while I was at KissJane (Bugis outlet) yesterday, and I fell in love with it. Debated between purple and midnight blue, and mommy even suggested getting this direct from KJ but I told her that I’ll try to camp for the launch instead. The material is very comfortable, and the intricate details are worth the price tag of S$26.50 mailed! It’s free-sized, and it’s slightly oversized on me.

xx

 Things my sister do on a daily basis to keep my workday going, thank you Bratty Sister xoxo
:)

xx

Rounding off this post, here’s an OTD from Sunday – TheDesignCloset Kimono Top in Navy x Nine West Satchel x usual accessories. Albeit a lazy Sunday, it’s awesome to just do nothing and usher in Monday altogether again.

Meh. -____-

Beautiful Saturday;

Published April 2, 2012 by myntshop

Headed out to Marina Bay Sands with mommy on Saturday, ‘cos she’s been wanting to check out the Louis Vuitton store Island Maison. Bratty sister couldn’t join us as she had to attend her friend’s 21st Birthday Party at Chevrons.

WIWT

Decked out in Love, Bonito Covet Walsh Top in Black, and Peplum Floral Skirt (this versatile piece was one of the few that I’ve scored from their Helipad sales!).
Accessorized with DKNY bag, RUBI sandals, MYnt-Shop snowflake necklace, and Omega Analog Watch.

xx

Sis’ decked out in Love, Bonito too; Poised Blazer in Mauve, and Pink Reversible Dress (from their first LB collection).
Accessorized with hand-me-down necklace from Mommy, and Victoria’s Secret Bag.

xx

Thanks to the Circle Line, it’s so much convenient now to commute to Marina Bay Sands via train! Wanted to locate Toastbox for some coffee and tea break, but the interactive map didn’t help so we gave up -___- Ended up window shopping, and mommy said no to the YSL clutch. She asked me to invest in a bag first, ‘cos it’s more practical. Mothers have their ways eh? Finally arrived at the LV store, and mommy eyed a couple of bags already. If only the price difference isn’t so big between Singapore retail price and European countries’ pricing, the heart pain wouldn’t be that much. LOL! In any case, it’s good time spent together with mommy :) her leg’s still hurting, but I’m glad she agreed to head out for awhile, getting some fresh air and (window) retail therapy helped too.

xx

Check out her happy face! :3

xx

Anyways, the skyline was so beautiful over the weekend. Managed to capture a few shots with just my iPhone, and the #nofilter photos are really mesmerizing. It’s always these few spots where you could proudly say that Singapore is a beautiful country – from the Helix Bridge, Esplanade, Fullerton Hotel, and the Promenade.

Favourite childhood snack?

Published November 9, 2011 by myntshop

I came across this question on Flowerpod Forum, and lots of good ol’ memories came running back in my head! Childhood snacks like the Bee-Bee, Hiro cake, pola snacks, and mamee… these kept me company through cartoon-watching, recess times, and even exams :B

What’s your favourite childhood snack? =)
